Hello, I’m Katherine Lightley—founder, tutor, and seamstress behind Fashioned By Threads. I created this space to help beginners learn how to sew, and to support anyone who wants to build the skills to mend, alter, and create their own garments with confidence.

Sewing has been part of my life since childhood, and I went on to study fashion design to further my knowledge. What I love most is the process; watching something take shape from a simple idea and a few scraps of fabric. Whether it’s a bespoke bridal gown or a beautifully patched pair of jeans, there is magic in making something with your own hands.

Through my workshops, I aim to share that magic. I teach in a way that’s friendly, inclusive, and hands-on. No jargon, no judgment, just a welcoming space to learn, experiment, and enjoy. Whether you're threading your first needle or dreaming up your own designs, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

And while I run Fashioned By Threads on my own, I couldn’t do it without the quiet strength and unwavering support of my husband, Iain; who’s always there behind the seams, cheering me on and helping make this dream a reality.
